Storm Ciara impacts Hawick
Over the weekend of 8th and 9th February 2020, Storm “Ciara” brought high winds and heavy rain to all parts of the country. In Hawick, the severe weather caused the waters of the River Teviot and Slitrig Water to rise very quickly, resulting in Hawick Royal Albert United’s football ground once again being flooded. More dramatically, the force of the water at the junction of the Teviot and Slitrig Water led to the partial collapse of the Bridge House guest house, adjoining Sonia’s Bistro, an event which hit the national and local media headlines.
