Minister for Active Travel visits the Scheme
On Friday 4th November, the Project Team welcomed Patrick Harvie, Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants’ Rights to visit the Hawick Active Travel Network (HATN).
Also joined by our partners Sustrans, a site walk took place to view sections of the HATN already constructed and discussions were held on how this project is being delivered alongside the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme.
Once constructed, over 6.5km of active travel paths will connect Wilton Lodge Park to Weensland and up to Burnfoot. Four new footbridges and 2.5km of reallocated road space will allow for safer and accessible walking, cycling and wheeling through the town and into communities.
